this is happening on a vanilla install. there is to the best of my knowledge, no other applications (multimedia or otherwise) running.

i've run across the same exact problem here; can't get VLC to recognize the laptop's multimedia keys ( [fn]+F9 [fn]+F10 etc.).
ubuntu 10.10 both vlc versions 1.1.4 & 1.1.7 were tested. same results all around.

I cant believe vlc still doesnt have this feature. Thats the reason i prefer thekmplayer instead of vlc. It is a shame that the kmplayer updates were gone. But theres no reason to use vlc while a lot of important features, that have almost all video players, are missing.

i'm having the same issue on winXP SP3 version 1.1.4 The Luggage. the window is huge upon starting vlc, where it should be minimal size. deleting preferences and cache doesn't help. i'll do some more investigating and report back more info. edit: reinstalling seems to fix it just fine. i wonder why ...

wow, that's awesome! i tried installing a .9 trunk build but it didn't work right. no problem though, i'll just wait for everything to evolve a bit more until attempting different color skins. keep up the great work, man.
