Re: Help Starting vlc stream with PHP

Ok. I will look into what is missing. That line does work from a shell while logged into a desktop. What changes by running it as a script?

Help Starting vlc stream with PHP

I have a mythbuntu 11.10 box that I am using to stream via VLC. For whatever reason the box is not stable. VLC usually crashes somewhere through the course of the day with a segmentation fault, so I am attempting to create a php page to start vlc with a browser. I have edited /etc/sudoers, to allow ...

capture settings do not stay in place on Ubuntu Intrepid

I have been capturing, streaming , and saving video on Ubuntu Hardy using the gui,and command line. I just installed Intrepid on the same box, and things are buggy. In the gui video settings either are ignored or do not stay in place in the advanced capture area, etc... Currently, only audio plays, ...

variable bitrate streaming help

There must be a doc on this, but I am not finding it. I would like to stream with variable bit rates for end users that have slower connections, but still allowing others with broadband to play our stream at a higher bit rate. Is there a way to accomplish this via the command line?

Need command or option to keep player alive

We are using vlc to relay a stream from a source that has very limited bandwidth. The relay host player is set to launch at a specific time each day, pick up the original stream, transcode it, and relay it. One problem is that when we have to make a modification at the originating server, vlc on the...

streaming audio chirps when played

We are low on bandwidth and are trying to be creative by restributing a live stream to other public servers on the Internet. We are sending the original live stream out using udp broadcast, mp4v video codec, and mga audio codec, then we are transcoding, and resistributing using mms, div3 video codec...

VLC crashing on Ubuntu 6.10

I finally got my AverMedia (BT878) card working, but the color is off when I capture video, it has a blue hue on everything. I enabled the extended gui in order to correct the color, but each time I do, vlc crashes. Any ideas what the fix would be?

AverMedia Bt878 configuration for vlc

I have installed an AverMedia TV tuner card with the BT878 chip set on my Ubuntu 6.10 box. I cannot get any video to display when setting up a capture . I am attached to the composite interface. Regardless if there is any video attached the display on vlc shows about a 1/2" of snow, and the res...

multiple widows opening up

When I open a video file, multiple instances of widows with the same video open up. I end up with 3 or 4 screens of the same video. Some look more degraded than the one playing inside the vlc player. How can I eliminate this annoyance?

switching

I have briefly looked over the docs on this. It seems it is designed to overlay 3 video sources over a finale output. I need to switch between video sources, with a single source displayed at any given time. I imagined this would be done by tapping the space bar, or some other function key. Am I abl...

Can VLC be used as a live video switcher?

Our church has a vedeonics switcher that just died. I have 4 cameras I need to switch between, and send the video out to a DV deck. Can this be done with VLC? They are hoping for a no cost/low cost solution, and I have several video capture cards I can use. Also, I need to have a simple fade as I sw...

next question

OK, that is great to hear! So, we can stream live content on the web.

Can all content be archived, and indexed easily, so viewers can pick the parts of our archive they want to view? (like a play list)

looking for the right solution

We stream video for our church using Windows Media Server. I want to move to mpeg-4 streaming. Is this something that can be done with VLC alone, or in combination with other solutions? If so, where are the best docs on this for someone who knows nothing about VLC?
