Those versions are not official. Please don't dl them.

Use OpenGL output if you need to.

OpenGL output doesn't solve the problem, because the videos are very very slow with OpenGL output.

I downloaded the final version of VLC 0.8.6b which claims to fix Direct3D Video Output for Vista compatibility,
but VLC 0.8.6b is still INCOMPATIBLE with Windows Vista, i.e. I can't see any video, the screen is with unique colour (black, brown, etc.)!!!

And anyway it's a VLC bug and not an Nvidia bug. In fact Windows Media Player 11 works fine

Have you updated your drivers to latest ?

yes, I'm using the latest NVidia drivers 97.46 final (7.15.10.9746 - NVIDIA GeForce 6200 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM))

with Direct3D and it's black
with DirectX and it's black
with DirectX without overlay and the Aero is disabled
with OpenGL and the video is corrupted i.e. half of screen is black/cutted and it's very slow!

VLC doesn't work in Windows Vista: screen is black or with a unique color during playback with every type of videos.
Why? Any plans to release a Vista compatible version?
With Windows Media Player 11 everything works fine.
