j_hallgren: http://streaming.webcastsusa.com/town_chatham works fine in here. I am using 0.9.8a under Windows Vista. You have other network related issues? ping works OK to streaming.webcastsusa.com? Re: Issues with current Release on Windows

Hi all! Haven't used VLC for some months due to some issues that I had that which I was hoping would be resolved in some future release...and now not sure if this is one of those or not: Scenario: 1) Using vers 0.9.8a without any known tweaks to default settings 2) W2K system w/all current patches 3...

Re: Installed Version 0.8.6i but File Version is 0.8.6g

Wishing I'd have found this thread instead of the other similar one (viewtopic.php?f=14&t=48650) where I posted as this is more complete.

Anyway, I'm having same issue so add me to list of people who are affected.

Re: Missing VLC.EXE executable header version info in 0.8.6i

I just ran into the same thing. PSI informed me of need to update so I did, but it says that I'm only up to "g" not "i". The File Vers shows as "0.8.6g" via XYplorer. BTW, Secunia is a highly respected and recommended utility, so saying it sucks when the problem exists ...

It appears that the file is having problems with sync. Try updating your audio drivers. Audio drivers for my 4+ yr old system have not been updated by vendor in over 2+ yrs, so mine ARE current...besides, VLC worked just fine for ALL files for 6+ weeks until I maxed out vol (via keyboard shortcuts)...

Ok...what I ended up doing was a screen print capture from VLC of the info about Channel 18 stream: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/chatmroomcc/work/VLCCh18.jpg and the "welcome.wmv" from my drive: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/chatmroomcc/work/VLCwelcome.jpg Hope this helps!

I also get "the silent treatment" from the WMV's that are part of Windows Media Encoder install, such as the 399KB "welcome.wmv" file, so these can be used to see what they contain...the other local files that I have issues with are ones that I can't make available on Net unfortu...

I can't seem to copy/paste the info here, so here's the stream that I'm having trouble with: mms://208.106.162.24/town_chatham (It's the local govt access channel 18 for my town) When stream starts, I get about 1/4 sec of audio, and then it quits. Odd thing: Last night, I was able to play...

"PTS is out of range" msg: No audio on most files

I've found a couple of somewhat similar threads but didn't see they matched my case exactly...anyway, I now get this "PTS is out of range (xxxxxxxx) dropping buffer" when I try to play a WMV, either stored locally or another which is a stream...I'm on W2K but have NOT made any recent chang...

Make volume tooltip & default/step use same range

This started as thread http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=33412 : Given that volume tooltip shows values of 0-97, (presuming a 0-100 range?) when adjusted by mouse, the default and steps should use a matching value scheme, and not a 0-1024 scale, which makes NO sense...either that...or toolti...

This is a step value where the lower the step the greater the change. Try 64 as it works for me. (default = 32) Ok, I did some more playing around...but I think your "lower step=greater change" is wrong, as I finally found that having a value of 5 would allow me to change vol by approx 1%...

Audio vol only adjusts by 5 or 8: How to get finer adjust?

I'm still fairly new to VLC but am irritated by the volume control! I've needed to tweak it by a small amount but I can't seem to get it to adjust by any less than 5% via mouse or 7-8% via keys...I've tried setting "audio output volume step" to values from 1-20 and don't see any difference...

Yes, I have "Advanced" set...which makes maximized window even more necessary...I'm one who like to see all the choices, even if I'll not use them right away while I'm learning the app.

Is it possible to set Pref's to open maximized always?

Before I put this as a suggested feature, I'm asking here to make sure there isn't some obscure setting that already does this...Given the layout of the Preferences window, I find it difficult (in most cases) to set much without having to first maximize it...so I'd like to have size of Pref's saved ...

So as a new user, who is NOT always connected to net, and thus making wiki unaccessable, not having off-line docs is one reason I stopped using another product for another task. Having a wiki is great for expanding on either a PDF or HTML help, but it should NOT replace it completely. As a matter of...

You have two choices. 1. Wait for 0.9.0 and the QT4 interface. 2. Use the skins2 interface now. Thank you for the prompt answer! I guess I'll just have to wait for 0.9.0 (and hope this control is added to default), as I tried the skins2 and found it (for me) not as easy to follow or get around in a...

I saw where one can modify the length of time defined for a 'long jump" in the preferences, which I did (changed from 300 down to 120)...but that still doesn't appear to affect the jump when using strictly the mouse/touchpad...as it still jumps in 5 min increments. So given that I've got about ...

No, I was unaware of those keyboard shortcuts...but I'm thus presuming doing this strictly by clicking with a touchpad (via left-mouse button only) is not possible?

Why does VLC jump in approx 5 min increments on timeline?

I'm a recent new user, and like what I see thus far...but...when I'm playing back a saved MP4 file, and wanted to jump ahead about 1 min, it seems to only want to jump fwd/back in about 5 min increments instead of to where I've clicked with mouse. Is there some hidden setting that controls this beha...

Some web pages at main site take FOREVER on IE6!

I'm a new user as of today...but almost gave up due to how long it was taking to load some pages from site! I'm running IE6 on a W2K sys with DSL...and the http://www.videolan.org/vlc/skins.php page consistently takes about 40-45 seconds to load! :P (But...If I use FireFox 2, it only takes about 2 s...
