OK I'm not sure what was happening. I downloaded a few more .m2t files and it seems that the original .m2t file was bad, others are playing, well more or less (see my other posts ). I found that mplayer DOES play the other m2t files that I downloaded correctly, however at a WAY SLOWER rate....

Main reason for me to install vlc was to play a m2t file. Which 0.8.4 does not do.... Were there changes to m2t playback since 0.8.4?

I'm not too eager to update the OS (never change working software).

Going to fetch it :-) Strangely, I looked for the system specifications on both the root pages, support page and the download page (Features gave me a blank page anyway).
