I love VLC. It is the first and BEST video app for OS X that could handle DivX. It works very well on a 500 MHz G3 too!

Yes this is a known bug. It is fixed in VLC 0.7.0 IIRC. There is a beta out now.

This happens to me too on my iBook 600 MHz.

Same file plays without hicups from the HD. It only hics when played from CD. (24x CDROM drive) and 384MB RAM.

OS 9 is like Windows 95. It is outdated big time.

I recon you guys (webmasters) have an overview of VLC downloads. I am curious as to how many Windows downloads there are compared to OS X and how many BeOS downloads there are and well the other platforms that you support

A forum is a good thing.

Fixing that is on the todoo list for VLC 0.7 if that is any comfort. But I really recommend OS 10.2 or 10.3 - both are a darn sight better than 10.1.

Codecs go in the
/Library/QuickTime/
folder IIRC.

If you want to play .avi files with QT the 3ivx codec is recommended (at http://www.3ivx.com) but you may have to doctor the .avi files to make them compatible with QT (with the 3ivx or Divx codec installed of course)

They do, the OS itself however doesn't allow programs to access it. The theory is that graphics support on OSX is so advanced and optimized, you don't need to. hardware decoding and deinterlacing are impossible on Mac OS X.

VLC Player has been at 0.6.2 since 14th of August. Is it still in development? If so why the long delay? Just curious.
