I've got a dual monitor setup and like to use the wall filter for movies sometimes.

Support for subtitles, including the .srt format, is pretty poor at the moment. Doesn't seem like too many people are interested in making it better. See here for more info . How about stripping out html tags, too? subrip files can contain lots of <i> and <font color=#ffffff> type tags that VLC just renders as plain text right now.
