Snowrunner, you have to note that the 120% is total usage. So you must be sure that VLC itself may not go over 100% and if it is, it's likely that the display or demuxing part of it are operating on different threads (as people mentioned here). The problem is when you have 1080p being decoded in one...

check things like --sout-udp-caching, the default is .5 of a second of something, and since you stream twice you get built up delays, and the second server is essentially acting like a client so it buffers as well... so you get two server and two client buffers... so on the servers: --sout-udp-cachi...

two rtp servers... read on one computer

hi everyone. I am having a fairly annoying problem that I can't get around, without going to udp streaming, which then makes it annoying cause udp doesn't do exactly what I want... First off: i am using FC6, and I installed live555 and vlc and the like all from scratch and everything works nicely ex...

i am not sure, but somehow you have to change the muxxing as you do not need to recompress at quicktime HD is already in h264 format most likely (99%). Anyways, VLC can probably do this, as a stream dump or something, maybe mplayer, or a dedicated program for re-muxing a file.

you need to get ffmpeg as well:

svn co svn://svn.mplayerhq.hu/ffmpeg/trunk ffmpeg_source

then configure and compile (but do not install) ffmpeg. and link to the source folder ffmpeg_source and compile vlc then.

if you don't intergrate it in, but use say vlc for displaying a video (by making calls to the command line) then it doesn't violate the GPL right?

I am pretty sure x264 itself support multi-threads (found out on the doom9 forums), however I am using x264 inside vlc for streaming purposes, so is there any way to set the prefs for x264 through vlc? I can't find any conf files for x264 (i installed with yum, so i may need to install from source w...

Some of the things i have done: - gone into /extras/contrib folder and typed 'make'. i didn't think this was necessary at all as in the readme it only mentions os X and...

hi, thanks for the reply gohanz. i just tried what you recommended, however i experienced the exact same issues. I couldn't follow exactly what i was to do, but seemed to want to build ffmpeg without --enable-x264, and with the --enables that you recommended in your post I used that exact configure ...

hi. if you just want a useable version of vlc then yum is fine. however it sounds like you haven't set up any other repositories. fedora can't ship with any repositories that have stuff like vlc since there are non-legal parts to it (dvdcss for instance). install the freshrpms repo (it's easy to fin...

The problem is that everything configures and compiles correctly however when I start up a movie (an .avi or .mov mpeg4) the player opens up but doesn't display anything. Other ...
