Re: Problems with DTS & MKV

I too can confirm that dts mkv's work perfectly in the latest MPlayer. ToeCutter, what does the "-cache" parameter do? (I don't use that, and they still work). /Martin Whoops, I did a cut and paste from my parameters and accidentally included the -cache switch. (I've removed the entry fro...

Re: DTS @ 1.5 mbps = stuttering

Try those high bit rate DTS tracks on MPlayer. It seems to work fine with 768kb DTS tracks.

Re: Problems with DTS & MKV

http://www.haque.net/software/mplayer/mplayerosx/builds/ I've just installed the 12/4/07 Build of MPlayer OSX and I can confirm that it works *wonderfully* with every DTS MKV I have. I have a 2006 MacBook 2.0 GHz Core Duo (1st Gen) with 2GB RAM running Leopard. To enable DTS and AC3 passthrough to ...

Re: VLC kills audio device!

Here's an easier way to recover from the dreaded VLC audio crash. Once VLC crashes, try this: 1. Close VLC completely. 2. Unplug the SPDIF from the Mac 3. Plug the SPDIF back into Mac 4. Restart VLC I came across this quite by accident. The unplug/plug seems to reset the bitstream going to the recei...

Re: Problems with DTS & MKV

Post after post has seemingly confirmed that there is a legitimate, reproducible issue with DTS playback within VLC. I have a MacBook 2.0 GHz with 2GB of RAM. I'm running Leopard and just updated VLC to 0.8.6d. I'm trying to play a 720p MKV with a 1.5 Mbit DTS track. The video plays fine, and I'm us...

Re: which sound card for spdif dts output?

Ditto here.

I'm getting some skipping on DTS Matroskas.

Downmixed to stereo, the track plays fine, but using DTS over SPDIF immediately results in skipping audio.

The DTS options are sparse, perhaps something else is at work here?

Thank you ToeCutter...
No worries, Martin (I saw you're Evo-related posts on several forums ;-)

Were in the same "Wanna watch HD-DVDs on Mac" boat....

To state things clearly: since MPlayer / ffmpeg supports EVO, VLC could do it too. And now we have sample to test against. BUT VLC is severely lacking developers at the moment, particularly regarding the demux/decoding and MPEG stuff. In fact, I would not expect EVO support to be done by any of the...

Straight Answer on EVO files?

Far be it from me to appear ungrateful for the time spent developing a thoroughly exceptional media player, but: How about providing a single, conclusive answer regarding EVO playback in VLC? One dev says yes, another says no (while curtly rejecting any assistance offered by Martin), and yet a third...

My MacBook Core Duo 2.0 GHz plays both 720p and 1080p .ts and .mkvs BEAUTIFULLY. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the quality of VLC's rendering. I have my MacBook connected to a Panasonic AX100 projector via DVI/HDMI and the picture quality is stunning . The ability to easily adjust sat and...

I'm having the very same issue after upgrading this morning to 0.8.6a. I've tried a variety of .ts, .mkv, XVID and MPG2 files that played just fine only yesterday. I've been using VLC for quite some time as my primary media player (many thanks to the devs!) and this is the first time I've seen this ...
