Subtitles (.srt) not reliable with DVDs

I want to load custom srt subs when playing back a DVD. Firstly when I click on Subtitles track | open file, nothing happens. The only way to load them is to drag the srt onto the screen. Generally if I add it right at the start of the movie, its fine until I move the playback position or pause the ...

0.9.2 - Can't use keyboard hotkeys

I mean the keys on the actual keyboard such as volume control and mute.

I have to take the focus off the VLC window for it to work. Was fine in the 0.8.x builds.

Any ideas?

Video with separate audio file?

Is it possible to playback a video but load another audio file as its soundtrack?

I know Media Player Classic can do it.

Re: Windows XP Problems (nightly)

Fixed as in todays build? Or should have been fixed by now? Also the Nightly Builds don't play subtitles automatically. Is there a group of people who work on the Nightly Builds then? EDIT: Tried Aug 3rd build and the shutdown bug is still there. I had to create a .bat file which kills the process.

Re: Windows XP Problems (nightly)

any tips on making it not happen?

Is it possible to create a shortcut to kill the process? Having to open up Taskman each time is quite annoying.

Re: Windows XP Problems (nightly)

This is still a problem.

I can't exit VLC without having to kill the vlc.exe process in task manager.

Is it hard to fix?

Can't fast forward in a MP4

Im pretty sure this was working fine before. It suddenly stopped working. After you go to a certain point (40mins in?), you cannot go past it, the video just hangs.

I downloaded the Nightly Build and it works there but that has its own bugs.

Constant hum sound when playing MP4

It has MP4a sound according to stats. It just has a constant low pitch hum throughout the movie. If I play it back on Quicktime, it is fine but I cant use that because the video is far too slow and jerky. This is also fixed if I switch to Mono. But I don't want to do that. Any ideas what the problem...

Does Normalization on the extended GUI actually work?

I dont seem to hear a difference and it certainly doesnt fix the volume shifting in videos.

Add artificial scan lines?

Is this possible with any type of plugin?

One thing about CRT TVs is that it hides digital artefacts with scanlines. I would like to add these to a video too see if it sharpens the image when viewing from a distance.

What does that mean? I know in MPC you need to use a specific type of vid codec to allow them. Could we not have this option in VLC?

Allow custom/external subtitles for DVDs

I think it would be a good feature. There are DVDs out there which have rubbish subtitles (particularly translated ones) or no subs at all so it would be good to load up an SRT or something.

I think MPC can do it. Would it be possible to implment this feature into VLC player?

Auto load subtitles by double clicking AVI file?

I've done a mass search for this issue, it seems some others have the same thing but it was never really addressed. Some say it works, but it doesn't for me. I do nto even get the Video -> subtitle track menu. Yes I have auto load subs checked in prefs. Only way it works for me is to use quick load,...

Are there now any plans to implement this?

Its about the only thing for me thats stopping VLC from being the best damn media player in the world!

If MPC can do it, why can't VLC?
