Re: mac os ventura 13.1 vlc stutter

Same problem here, macOS 13.2.1, VLC 3.0.18. MacBook Pro with M1 Pro. Stutter every second or so. The codec (H264, HEVC) doesn't seem to make a difference. Now reluctantly using Quicktime player...

Re: Mac audio output stream to Window 10 PC

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but for $60 USD, you can buy Dante Via and Dante Virtual Soundcard. It will work. https://www.audinate.com/products/software/dante-via

If it was Mac to Mac, you could use AUNetSend and AUNetReceive.

Re: VLC causes KP on M1 Mac mini / Big Sur when playing Bluray discs

Have you tried MakeMKV for decrypting? http://www.makemkv.com/libmmbd/ No. The checkbox in MakeMKV that allows it to decrypt for VLC is disabled. Try this then: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053 THanks= but What are you showing me? I see nothing about using makmkv for decry...

Re: Guide to encoding x264 on Mac?

I already use Compressor, but I'm told I'd get better encodes using x264? (...) I've looked at ffworks but I find the settings very confusing, and I'm also not sure what settings I'd need to use, depending on the various types of film grain, bit rate, BD compliance etc. From a DNxHD 175 source, I d...

Re: Guide to encoding x264 on Mac?

If you're not too afraid of the Terminal and line commands, FFmpeg is your best bet: https://evermeet.cx/ffmpeg/ I have done exactly what you're asking (H264 encoding for Blu-ray) last week with FFmpeg, but with a GUI frontend: http://www.ffworks.net That being said, and if you have a bit of money, ...

The control bar in full-screen mode is fixed. In other words, resizing the control panel in the full screen does not work. anyone have the same problem with Apple silicon VLC?
Are we describing the same problem? See the last few replies in the thread.

Re: 3.0.12.1 M1 bug report thread

Can you please try to make the buttons smaller, by taking the bottom right edge, and actually dragging the edge upwards? If this does not work, it would be a bug. I tried with the trackpad and a mouse (because click & drag is sometimes difficult with a trackpad), but all I can modify is the len...

Re: 3.0.12.1 M1 bug report thread

You can resize the panel by grabbing a corner. Does this solve your problem? Ah, OK, yes, it works for the length, but, overall on the M1, it stays twice as big: the height of the panel and the size of the icons. Is it possible to manually resize that? My hunch tells me it's related to the Retina d...

Re: 3.0.12.1 M1 bug report thread

Nothing major: the full screen, mouse hovering, control panel is not scaled properly. That, or there's a UI preference I don't know about.

YES! There are few posts over the years on that subject, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on that.

Is it implemented? If so, how to enable it?

Re: Turn off audio normalization altogether?

What else could be causing the dips in volume during loud scenes? What is the source? A video file with a multichannel audio track? If you're playing such a file on a two-channel audio system, the dips in volume on loud segments is to prevent the stereo down-mix from going over 0 dBFS. Dolby and DT...

Multichannel audio downmix control

Would it be possible to add a control to modify the gains of individual channels when downmixing multichannel audio (AC3 and DTS) to stereo? I noticed that the center channel is 6 dB too loud, usually with DTS, in the downmix (to my taste anyway). TIA.

Personally i'm not holding my breath just yet. I've seen too many ppl say "oh, i'll fix that", and then be stranded in the swamp that is CoreAudio and VLC :) Come on... The VLC project is asking for OSX developers, I find one that is interested in resolving this problem, and you shrug it ...

There are a few other threads about this: http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=1514 http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=4177 Basically it affects every "pro" and "semi-pro" sound card on the Mac: even Digidesign's Mbox, with it's stereo only output, is presented in VLC...

Unfortunatly, we have a lot of trouble finding a developer that can fix this.. Until we do, it will stay broken.
I've sent you privately an audio developer e-mail that could be useful: have you contacted him?

Professional multichannel audio devices

Strange? Stupid? Are these synonymous with "professional multichannel"? YES. You have to see that VLC tries to do a multichannel output where possible. However this was a completely uncovered terrain in the OSX documentation when we first did this ( Mac OS X 10.0 ). It was original...
