I wonder why the crash log is not exploitable. It's a reproducible crash with the same thread crashing every time
(0 libobjc.A.dylib 0xfffeff18 objc_msgSend_rtp + 24).
Noticed that, too. If there's a pref to switch it off, I haven't found it yet. If not -> another bug. I'm starting to get the impression that the OS X release for 2.0 was a bit premature.
I can confirm this crash, but I haven't come up with a way to reproduce it reliably. Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't. I'm going to create an account later this day and look for bugs (or submit bug reports if applicable) for two or three sorts of crashes new to VLC 2.0, the omnipresent stu...
Maybe only some Radeon models. No red stripes here on PowerBook G4 1.33 GHz with ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (64 MB). But as I said, some video formats are completely tinted red, but play with normal colors in VLC 1.11. This may be related.
Excerpt from the reproducible crash when quitting with no windows open (unclean exit). I can provide the full log if needed (I don't see any option to attach it to this message, therefore the excerpt). Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000000c21d1f...
Further testing shows that deleting preferences (org.videolan.vlc.plist & org.videolan.vlc Folder) doesn't fix the crash bug. BTW, the instructions at viewtopic.php?f=12&t=72822 have the wrong prefs folder (the old one).
I haven't seen the red stripes on any of my test videos, but I've seen the whole screen tinted red in MS video 1. I can also confirm the stuttering audio that's fine in VLC 1.1. Haven't found a preference to deal with that, obviously, video has a higher priority than audio with VLC 2.0. VLC 2.0 cras...
Generally, VLC *does* run on 10.3.9, but it has been more and more buggy since 0.8.6. The last version that runs okay on my system is 0.8.6c. Everything else after that has been unusable. I keep trying new versions, but it's not getting better. 0.8.6.f has the usual quit-crasher (doesn't exit cleanl...
The exact problem is still there in 0.8.6b. Since the developers don't seem to be interested in fixing it, I gave up and just disabled the Unexpectedly Quit dialog in Mac OS X.
I see this with 0.8.6 on 10.3.9 (iBook G3 800), but *only* when I have a .flv movie playing. Doesn't happen with any other movie type I tried (tried 26 different formats). Crashlog BTW This also happens when I close the movie window before telling VLC to quit. This is on a completely new VLC install...
