No! Showtime doesn't. Neither does any of the Nero utilities as this would be imposable for the MP4 specification. There are many things defined and possible with MPEG 4. Maybe it is to much possible, but for this reason there are Profiles and Levels. http://www.chiariglione.org/mpeg/standards/mpeg...

It could simply be that the vobsubs generated by my build of mplayer are no good. However, if you could point me to a snapshot of the gpac source tree you know to work, I would like to try it out and see if I get better results. There may be som bugs with current GPAC CVS. 3 - libgpac and some modu...

No, VLC doesn't support BIFS. I don't know any OpenSource Player beside Osmo4/MP4Client from GPAC with BIFS support. About your problems with GPAC on PDA. I don't know if any of the developers still have such an device. You didn't got an answer until now in the GPAC forum, I would wait a little bit ...

Re: streaming (video only) in 3gp format. is it possible?

Can I transcode that stream and generate a 3gp compliant RTSP output with VLC? I know I can transcode video to H263 but this is only a part of the answer because, even if I do not have audio, I also have to generate the proper 3gp container format. You only have to stream the Elementay Stream(RAW) ...

You can find a faad2 rpm here: http://packman.links2linux.de/?action=287
Update your faad2 version with:

Code: Select all

rpm -Uvh name.rpm
Or use

Code: Select all

smart upgrade --update
to update all RPM.
Or use Yast to update to a newer version. You have to update your PackMan installation source.

Update the installed shared lib from FFmpeg(libffmpeg) and Faad2.
You can do that with Yast, you have to refresh the PackMan installations source to get the updated packet information.

You can also use smart to update your rpm:

Code: Select all

smart upgrade --update
If you want to update all rpm.

Did you compile VLC by yourself or using the RPM from PackMan?
SuSE 10.1 comes with wxGTK 2.6.2 as far as I know. If you have 2.6.3 installed -> rebuild the source RPM from PackMan: http://packman.links2linux.de/?action=377

I'm not quite sure how referring this to the nightly builds is going to resolve the problem??? H264 should be supported by vlc, but since the last vlc release (0.8.5) there was some improvements in FFmpeg(libavcodec) if I am not wrong. The nightly builds are not linked against a newer FFmpeg versio...
