Hi, the moov atom/box can be placed at the beginning or end of the file. The metadata is stored in the Movie Box(moov). Some decoder are more ore less happy if they get the right Decoder Specific Info, even if other things are wrong, if you have an video only file. The media data is stored in the Me...

MP4 and MOV were developed by Apple Computer for their format types. . Not true, MP4 isn't only developed bye Apple. MP4 is developed bye MPEG ( http://www.chiariglione.org/mpeg/ ). The MOV container was only taken as a starting point to develop MP4. The MOV container is not as versatile in this re...

This mp4 file was created with Nero. Both SUB Tracks(6/7) are VOBSUB with a private ObjectTypeIndication.
I don't know a tool to extract this Tracks.

Maybe an other person can help.

Can you post the output from "MP4Box -info yourFile.mp4".
Are you sure the SUBs are timed text? They are probably VOBSUB.
VOBSUB in mp4 was introduced by Nero.

I think, the other problem is your question. What do you want to do? Some of your sentences are hardly to understand. Maybe you should ask, is it possible to use VLC instead of the Real/Helix Producer to create live content from your network camera for the helixserver. And what is your target? Which...

Why does nobody answer? Is the question put wrongly or too difficult? Me think, the helixserver is probably not used by many people around here. I don't know the helixserver and I am not sure if it can handle a MPEG Transportstream. Propably the helixserver needs an other input source for forwardin...

I would suggest not to use avi. Try a different container like mp4 or mkv. Create the video with -of rawvideo and mux it with MP4Box or mkvmerge. Mkvmerge come without h264 raw import support. You have to create a mp4 and import this with mkvmerge, if you want use mkv. MP4Box http://gpac.sourceforge...

Libebml(0.7.6)/libmatroska(0.8.0) was installed at compile time?
Your build comes with Matroska support( vlc -list | grep mkv )?

Maybe it will help, if you can provide a sample(part) of your file.
Did you try other mkv files?

To verify that all went well, enter "vlc -list | grep AAC" in a console.
Do you get an output like this:

Code: Select all

VLC media player 0.8.5-svn Janus faad AAC Audiodekoder (benutzt libfaad2)

A little bit less information from your site.

Do you know which video/audio codes are used in the matroska file?

Real video codes(e.g V_REAL/RV40) are not supported by VLC.

You could use mkvinfo ( http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoo ... vinfo.html ) to get some info about your file.
