low volume! The video format this time is AVI+MP3

Hi, I got a problem about a video I downloaded from a web site. The video is of AVI formatted with MP3 composing its audio part. When I played it in Windows Media Player 10, the volume was so low. I used to think this problem would only happen on those videos with AAC or AC3. I tried VLC then, and t...

Yes! You can use other output modules, but all of these put the weight of decoding on your CPU and typically there is reduced quality.
Thanks for the help, DJ!

If both the game and VLC use DirectX this is possible.
...
Yes, the game requires Direct X 6 or above.
BTW, I didn't know VLC use DirectX before I read your reply, DJ!
If directX is turned off, can VLC still be able to function as usual?

AC3 in any player is 8 dB lower in level than DTS or MP3. Unlike most players VLC offers 6 dB of gain rather than 0 dB or unity gain at the top of the slider. The gain is consistent with the Dolby specification for ac3. Hi, DJ! So, can VLC users change the value of Gain in VLC? I have been searchin...

I opened a game named Little Fighters, and then tried to open a video either .mkv, .avi or .wmv, and then my PC suddenly turned into Blue Screen of Death. The video couldn't be showned properly in VLC either, as long as the game was still left unclosed. The game is freely available from Download.com...

Run with the messages set to the highest level.
I am sorry, but what do you mean by "
Run with the messages set to the highest level."

I have tried VLC0.86a then, still there is no audio output.
I can only see the video, but hear no sound!

This is a common occurrence for converting ac3 to MP3 for audio as there is an approximate 8db difference in level between the two formats. VLC has 6db of gain in the volume control where as WMP has 0db of gain. So as an end result the volume must be turned up on your audio card to a more appropria...

Do I have to install AC 3 filter for my VLC?

Hi, I have VLC0.85c installed in my PC, but I am not familiar with most of its features and functions actually.

Adjust the "Default audio volume" (default is 256) then press Save and close the player. The default is 100% in other players and VLC allows 6db of gain to the top of the slider but this may cause distortion in some audio cards. 6db=2x volume. I just adjusted the slider to the middle posi...
