My wife is beyond technically hopeless. I have repeatedly shown her how to access our media server through VLC, but= within 24 hours she's forgotten

Is there a command line option I could use to bring up the media server? Then I could put it on her taskbar for easy access.

Oh bloody hell. Posted the full request and it's been dumped as I'd been logged out. Sorry, will use another media player that works.

Everything set up for 5.1 in Audio preferences, simple and all. When I play a movie with 5.1, Dolby Surround is never an option, but with 5.1 audio it is. Worked for me with regard to text.

Completely messed up display of the video, which occupied maybe the top quarter of the display part of VLC.
