vlc playlist not playing entire playlist

Sorry I can't think of a good title for my issue. I create the playlist as expected. View, playlist. I add the files I want. Then I save the playlist. Right click, save playlist. I put 10 files in the playlist. When I open the playlist from the playlist file only 2 files show up. I thought there mig...

I know there is a way to record your desktop in VLC. Is there a way to record both your desktop and audio at the same time?

Re: Recording primary monitor in dual monitor setup

Since this took me awhile to figure out and the link was not clear I thought I would share how to do this. Add this to capture device, show more options, edit options. Obviously change the width and height to the resolution of your computer.

Code: Select all

watching a movie with multiple subtitle tracks

How does vlc decide which subtitle track to use when there are two subtitle tracks? Only one is showing up in my subtitle settings. What are the .idx and .sub files for? The .srt files have the subtitles.

I found this method and its much quicker and easier.

Tools, Effects and filters, Video effect tab, Use the the scroll bar and go right to advanced, check anaglyph 3d

VLC 2.1 speaker issues

The audio sounds really weird when I use my 2.1 speakers to watch movies. I'm guessing it thinks I am using 5.1 speakers. How would I fix this? I don't see anything in the audio preferences about 2.1 or 5.1 speakers :(.

Maybe you don't have enough cpu power to decode a video with this resolution ?
Yes you are correct. I have a 3 year old laptop. Could I adjust some vlc settings to make it better?

Re: thumbnail maker

Create thumbnails with VLC and then, just merge them.
Do you mean take individual snapshots and manually merge them with an image editor?
Of course not! Use the scene module.
Could you explain how to use the scene module please?

Re: crontab Problems

You need to set the DISPLAY environment variable correctly. Some other variables may be needed.
I don't know how to do that. I have searched google for a long long time with no luck. Could you explain how to do that please?

Re: crontab Problems

You need to expose your DISPLAY to the cron tab entry, otherwise VLC will run in text mode. There may be other similar issues.

I have 3 video's I'm trying to play as a playlist at 8 am. I've checked in the terminal and as a regular script that this works fine. Right now I'm just trying to get it working so I'm using wildcards for the time and day. I tried it with sourcing and without sourcing in the crontab. Then I tried to...

Re: VLC media player 0.9.* problems

The installer script writes appropriate entries in the Registry for file associations and context menus. The non-installer file archives don't, hence why the file associations don't work. Try installing VLC using the installer version into the directory you wish to install it to (or, once installed...

Re: VLC media player 0.9.* problems

So you aren't using installer, so it cannot be installer issue. Are you running Vista?
You don't need to use the installer when using the zip and 7zip version. It works without installing VLC. I use XP Pro SP3.

Re: VLC media player 0.9.* problems

You mean associations set by installer or associations set by VLCs Association setup dialog? Not sure what you are trying to say. I've tried with both vlc-0.9.4-win32.7z and vlc-0.9.4-win32.zip. Well I've gone into VLC's 9.* preferences and I've set most video and audio formats to VLC. When I doubl...

Re: FLV COMPATIBILITY

http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/latest/ should always have the latest build that has compiled successfully. Filename tells the date when it was compiled. Ok that's really annoying. I downloaded it yesterday from that exact link, and when I took the files out of the 7zip archive and starte...
