Re: VLC cannot open rtsp

Hi all, a quick note to the packager sometimes helps to get packaging issues fixed :P In this case it did take a bit longer, as I do not follow the fora on a daily base... yet: new vlc (and vlc-beta) rpms should be published and live555 support should be enabled again... If there are other issues, p...

Re: SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 SP1 - Installation prob

So far there hasn't been much request for SLE based VLC players... At times, the best hit for SLE11 used to be openSUSE 11.1 (which is ultimately what SLE is based on). I'm not sure how much away SLE11SP1 drifted from that rule, but usually this should still be the best hit for SLE based systems. (1...

Re: vlc and libproxy confusion

Hi everybody, can anyone help me to set the libproxy options/files to prevent VLC to look at the Webproxy for http://localhost? rh The correct solution is to use the ignore features of the proxy configuration. This exists in GNOME Proxy settings, KDE proxy settings and also envvar (unfortunately I ...

Re: libva/vdpau incompatible OpenSuse 11.3 repo?

Thanks for the report. The issue got triggered with the update of libva from 1.0.1 to 1.0.4, which triggered a slight different code path in the detection during 'configure', resulting in this issue. The patch in vdpau-video-nvidia has been updated to reflect this change, and the currently published...

Re: RPM with hardware acceleration

For users of openSUSE Factory (11.3 to be) there are currently some vdpau-video-nvidia packages in the VideoLAN repository. Testing is welcome. On 11.2 those did not yet build successfully (well, mainly lib dpau did not build, so you could get the srpm and try rpmbuilding it on your own machine, as ...

The required DRI drivers are, of course, out of scope for the VLC player and it's repositories. Nevertheless, as an info on where to find the proper driver: http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/vaapi (vaapi is the library / api used; it is manufacturer independent) There you can find links to variou...

a) I assume you have the VideoLAN repo enabled and are just trying to build your own version? (or any other good reason to build it yourself?)

either way: libavcodec is part of he ffmpeg suite. So for the developmen headers you'll need ffmpeg-devel.

Hi, I just recently fixed an error in the packaging for people changing between vlc 1.0.1 and vlc-beta 1.1 packages (is probably not synched out yet). I've seen that for people changing not all packages were properly switched. Try from a CLI to: rpm -qa "vlc*" make sure that all the packag...

Hi
vlc keeps giving the error :vlc is unable to open the mrl,dvdsimple:///dev/scd0. check log for details.
Exactly said log might be interesting.

Start vlc with
vlc -vvv

and give the respective outputs.

Re: HowTo : on Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 11

In order to make this even easier, I just configured my build host to link the original libdvbpsi package in from openSUSE 11.1. so the original packet will be copied inside the VLC 11.1 repository. I hope this is the only package missing for SLE (will have to somehow get a grip on a SLE11 install)....

Re: HowTo : on Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 11

Hi, It is pretty much the same situation it was in SLE10: You also need to add the repository of the openSUSE version. Son in your case, besides adding the repository http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/SuSE/11.1 (VLC) also add http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1/repo/oss/ then ...

Re: Missing Dependencies for SLED 11 Gm

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. I've added the openSUSE 11.1 repository and now it's saying it requires libdvdread.so.3. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rob
This is an indice that you added the VLC repository for version 11.0. SLE11 is based on openSUSE 11.1 and as such you have to use VLC 11.1 repository.

Re: vlc 0.9.9 on opensuse 10.3

You are not alone. The last version I had that worked on my 10.3 Suse OS was 0.8.6. VLC has been progressively crippled by dependencies created by libdvdcss2, where the original libdvdcss worked fine. I have repeatedly failed to retrofit 0.8.6 and the original libdvdcss but without success. It was ...

Re: VLC for SLED 10

Latest versions of VLC (so the 0.9 tree) are not simple to get to work on SLE10, as SLE10 was shipped with 'outdated' Qt4 libs... of course SLE was not shipped outdated, but due to the long life cycle and the rapid development, it is no longer trivial to build VLC on the SLE platform. The best I can...

Re: issues in compiling VLC 9.8a

If I'm not mistaken, disabling ffmpeg (thus avcodec and avformat) is not the best idea, if you actually want to decode anything.

almost all codecs are forwarded to ffmpeg. so without this you have a nice interface without much function.

Re: issues in compiling VLC 9.8a

Exactly as the message suggests, you're missing avformat support on your system

This would be provided by ffmpeg devel packages (libffmpeg-dev, ffmpeg-devel or something similar).

You have --enable-ffmpeg in your configure line... this probably excludes --disable-avcodec and --disable-avformat

Re: VLC repo for openSUSE (expired gpg key)

The key has been extended and the repositories got a refresh.

So it only remains to hope to yast understands the new key in all versions of openSUSE (I tested with openSUSE 11.1, and there it recognizes it immediately).

Have fun!
