Re: vlc install issues on suse 10.0

You're trying to install VLC from the PackMan repository (visible at the .pm in the name).
We can not support this.

Please try disabling the PM repo while instaling vlc and report eventual errors back.

Re: Multichannel on Linux x64

Hello,

How did you install VLC? What source did it come from?
Did you install from source (compile yourself)

Installed RPMs? In this case, please issue a

Code: Select all

rpm -q vlc
in a terminal and give us the output.

Thank you.

Re: XVid will not play in Suse 10.3 VLC

Just to let you know:

Version 0.8.6d was just released and the RPMs for openSUSE are available.
I hope this might also solve your problems here in an easy way.

Best regards,

Re: XVid will not play in Suse 10.3 VLC

Hi, first: the VLC Project offers own RPMs for openSUSE 10.3 too (check the website http://download.videolan.org/vlc/download-suse.html, there is even a 1-click install for openSUSE 10.3). The other question: no, that patch is not included in the packages 0.8.6c. But rumour has it that 0.8.6d will h...

Re: VLC on Suse 10.1 - how to allow specific server?

Hi, sorry, did not realize that you're on 10.1... indeed, the firewall module had a bit less features at this time. So for you it might be that you have to enter the line directly in /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 I think you should be able to find a line like: FW_SERVICE_ACCEPT_EXT (or something simi...

Re: VLC on Suse 10.1 - how to allow specific server?

Hello, Well, you can set it in Yast2, Firewall (I just had to look up how.. I never did it :-) ) So.. go to Yast2, Firewall, and select 'Custom Rules' I guess all your devices are in the external zone (standard). Add a rule, with the following parameters: Source Network: 212.27.38.253/32 (if all ent...

Re: VLC on Suse 10.1 - how to allow specific server?

Hello, to see exactly what we should do in your firewall, I'd suggest you have a look at /var/log/firewall to see exactly what is getting blocked. Then we can start adding a rule to /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 that allows this specific connection. Post a few lines from the firewall log and I'll tel...

Re: video problem

Try to set the video output module to something different in VLC (try X11, as that works for you in mplayer).

-> Settings, Preferences, Video, Output Module, select 'Advanced' and choose your prefered output method. This could help you in this case.

Do you have by any chances Compiz running on your system?

I've seen several issues with compiz and video playback, from blurry images up to not recognizable.

I'm afraid if we can't get the whole error message, it will be close to impossible to help. Try the following: su - zypper sl zypper in vlc If there comes a message about dependencies, let it do the full test if possible, then cancel. Copy the output here and I'm sure we can sort it out. Can you be a bit more verbose please? What dependencies are missing?

you can also paste the output of a zypper solver run... that could help as well.

We might need some more information for this issue.

Like: what URLs are you trying to access? A log file from vlc -vvv might also be quiet helpful in this case (maybe they use an unsupported codec?)

Re: Need heap with VLC in OpenSUSE 10.3

Hi, ignoring depencdency problems and conflicts in yast almost always renders the one or other software useless; that's what for the dependencies are there: to give you a good, stable system, but it only works as long as you respect it. I assume you also have at least some other repositories added t...

hey, I've just seen that you were the user that already had trouble adding the Repository first. Re: There are no installable providers of libdbus-1.so.3()(64bit

Are you certain you selected the 10.1 repository and not the 10.0?
SLES and SLED 10 are based on SUSE Linux 10.1, and not as the name would revel, on 10.0.

And you can not install vlc and vlc-beta together; they are exclusive to each other.

In fact that's an error which of course was not intentional.
As workaround, you can set it to checksum, but I'll try to update the repo this evening to bring the signatures back online.

John, well, from reading your output I would say you make a small mess on your system. What distribution are you using? I can see references to Mandrake (*.mdk*.rpm), Fedora 6 and 7 and the RPMs you seem to try to install are prepared for openSUSE. I'm not really sure what you try to achieve there i...

Well, there comes a problem of the 32bit Firefox on a 64bit machine. Either you have to: - use the 32bit version of vlc (I never tried that actually) - use a 64bit version of Firefox. Re: ERROR: Could not add http://download.videolan.org/pub/......

Maybe you first have to try to import the gpg key (happens apparently sometimes).

Code: Select all

sudo rpm --import http://download.videolan.org/pub/vlc/SuSE/10.1/repodata/repomd.xml.key
and then try to add the repo again. Maybe it helps.
