Re: mpeg, mpg crash

The vlc package you've installed is from packman (can be seen on the .pm. in the version of the package) and can not be supported by us.

Please follow the instructions on http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-suse.html to install the VLC Package from our repository.

Thank you.

Re: Install problem with OpenSuse 10.2/dependency conflict

Try to select only vlc and vlc-mozillaplugin; vlc-beta is the test version of the upcoming 0.9.0 and is only needed by the ones that want to test that version. In plus, be sure to install the vlc from our repository: whenever you see something with .pm. in the version, it comes from packman and can ...

Re: mpeg, mpg crash

Hi, A known problem, as most likely you're also a PackMan user. Try to use all libraries from the VLC Repo (say: libmpeg2 and ffmpeg). Also, there might be a newer build of vlc in the repos already, as together with the PackMan team I was busy trying to avoid this conflict. A new build seemed to sol...

Re: Suse 10.2 vlc dependencies

well, well, thanks again for the report. IT seems one of the last updates of the repos mixed up a few things: the gpg key that signed the repo was not available in the repodata directory anymore. Thus: the ones that had it already added did not have a problem (they had the key from an earlier sessio...

Re: OpenSuse 10.2: "Unknown Error: Downloading metadata failed"

weird: I just removed all my repos and readded the vlc repo. No problem detected. I added it the following way: Yast2 -> Installation Source Add, specify URL URL: http://download.videolan.org/pub/vlc/SuSE/10.2 it downloaded the meta data and it worked. Do you still have zen installed on your 10.2 bo...

Re: OpenSuse 10.2: "Unknown Error: Downloading metadata failed"

Zugvogel,

thank you for your report. I, as the maintainer of that repo, am just trying to reproduce this behavior on my 10.2 box.
It will probably take a while.. but I'll give more feedback later this evening... Stay tuned.

Re: Suse 10.2 vlc dependencies

Sorry for the late reply. Be guaranteed that the complicated installation using the 10.0 and the upgrade path to 10.2 is not needed at all. From your logs I could see that you tried to install the VLC package from the PackMan repository. Even though it is a very known and wide spread repository, we ...

Re: error

Hi,

well, YaST tells me you're a SUSE / openSUSE user. What version are you using at the moment?
What installation source (repository path) did you add ?

Thank you for some more information to help me track it down.

Re: Smart Package Manager Won't Install Vlc

well, according the file you try to install, you seem to have downloaded that one from the PackMan repository, and I'd imply you use a SUSE/openSUSE distribution then.

Is SMART mandatory for you?

Alternatively, try following the information on: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-suse.html

Re: vlc in opensuse

For 'legal reasons', novell is not including VLC or any other full featured video player in their distribution.

If you really want to work with a live disc, you would have to create your own one; KIWI might help you in this, but I can so far not tell you if this works or not..

ahh!! there we have it.

That's a small confusion.. SLED 10 is NOT SUSE 10.0

Change your repository of VLC to the 10.1 and you're set in that case.
SLED 10 is based on SUSE Linux 10.1, that's the trick here.

Hi, I can only guess so far: did you remove the CD source? Anyhow, I'd suggest you to add the following repository in plus: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source/ This is a complete repository of SUSE Linux 10.0, everything that was released originally by Novell/SuSE. Well, You seem to have the PackMan repository active in your system. Thus you get the PM version installed. you can go to yast software management, search for libmpeg2 and under the versions tab you should be able to select the version from the VLC repo. In the Software updater, be sure to ignore up...

I did not specify --enable-jack on the commandline when building the package?

Serious: In the time the packages exist, it is now the first time somebody requests jack support (maybe the others were just quiet).

I might consider adding it to future RPMs

Hi, Unfortunately, I don't have any information about the Novell Linux Desktop 9. Most likely, the 9.3 repository would work for your installation, but the 9.3 repository is broken as of this time. Hmm.. mod files still exist? :-)

Can you supply me some mod/xm files so I can create new packages and test with them? Honestly, I just don't have any and thus did never test it.

But I'm willing to create new RPMs with the features for mod included.
