The problem I have appears to be related to the Qt interface only. The variants, svlc (skins), nvlc (ncurses), and cvlc (command line) interfaces work fine. These variants are just shell wrappers to the vlc command providing the appropriate -I (interface) parameter.

Platform : Ubuntu 22.10 VLC version : 3.0.17.4-5 (installed using 'apt', not 'snap') Symptoms : VLC appears to be playing a video, but shows a black screen. The timer bar moves across the screen.
