There are moments were the mouse cursor disappears (in random times) when showing the context menu in a video whether it is in fullscreen mode or in a window.
Using the latest (3.0.17.4), but it has been doing this on earlier versions too.

Is there a way to avoid it?

That's right. I am supposed to choose which language I want to use before it enters the main menu. Which VLC won't give at all.

Update: Forgot to say that I figured it out. Had to choose "no disc menus". Didn't know that was required.

VLC can't play DVD ISO file even though it is copied correctly. But Windows Media Player plays it with no problem. How come?

"main error: buffer deadlock prevented" seems to be the reason according to the log. Any way to fix this?

Well, even with one or two pauses makes it happen.

If I for example pause just 1 time, then wait in some seconds and then resume, it might happen.

I tested by disabling the hardware-accelerated decoding and it seems that corrects the issue. But once I use the others (Automatic/Direct3D 11 Video Acceleration/DXVA) it'll happen again.

I have the latest version installed. Resetting or not doesn't help as it happens anyway after a fresh install of the operating system. And I have tried various methods in the preferences. I used to have AMD Radeon HD 7770 graphic card and now I have Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 with exactly the same situ...

I have tried to say this on another thread with no luck. So I try again.

I get picture distortion when pausing and then resuming on whatever video. VLC has been doing this ever since version 3.0.9 or 3.10 or something. It's very annoying.

Has anyone else ever noticed this?

Which Xonar card is it? And is the latest Driver installed?

In Advanced Settings on Audio - Output modules, there is something called "Media role" where you can choose 9 different roles. It's on Video as standard, but you can choose it to Music.

Don't know if this has any affect at all.

If RealTek is the actual on-board sound card, then download the Driver from RealTek.com (Computer Peripheral ICs - ALC898) called 64bits Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1, Windows10 Driver only (Executable file) 258 MB. Greater chance that this will work better compared to Microsoft High Definit...

Preferences - Audio settings - Always reset audio start level to: 100%

You can also use the scroll-button on your mouse by scrolling all the way down to 0% and then scroll up to the point you will have it on.

You have to manually deactivate subtitles in the Preferences on VLC, if that's the case. "Enable subtitles" is On as default.

Tools - Preferences - Subtitles/OSD - Enable subtitles.

After version 3.0.8 to 3.0.16, VLC has an annoying error when pausing a video and then resume. I get lots of square dots or some form of it and it can make the program crash in some occasions (BSOD for example).
