Playing a MKV video on my Xbox series s the image for still screens are fine, but when something moves that part is a jumble of colored blocks.
I have only encountered this on mkv files and it happens vie smb share and playing from USB drive.

is there a codex update or fix for this?

I have the same issue on Xbox Series S

when black screen happens i need to open a different app and then restart VLC and some times its ok from there.
in most cases after restarting i skip forward to where the problem occurred and than i seem to be able to watch further. but its frustrating
