After some searching I eventually found out how you can do it. You need to copy the movie to your harddrive first, to do that you need an application called MacTheRipper which will ignore the region coding.

I have found a way to play other regions (I use a program called, I believe, DVD Image to create a disk image on my hard drive which is region free), however, as another solution, I thought I could install an older version of Quicktime since VLC was able to play foreign DVDs until recently.
