I believe that you didn’t understand my previous response. HDR playback is not supported on macOS! We will add it in a future release but we are far from ready.

Dolby vision would be welcomed.
It's the new and most used at present. Lot's of movies are Now with 4K Dolby vision in mp4 format. And VLC makes colour changes while Playing them. Waiting for DOLBY VISION soon.

Sorry VLC can't play it at this moment. You have to wait for official DOLBY VISION support.
