Re: Enabling the taskbar progress indicator?

Not in 3.0.6, unless very well hidden.

At this point, I doubt we'll ever see it. Whoever runs the show clearly hates the feature (hard to believe there's a technical limitation considering how common the feature is across Windows apps where it's appropriate to have the feature in the first place).

Re: Enabling the taskbar progress indicator?

Just to be sure, since I'm not seeing it, is it not in 3.0?

Re: My VLC settings reset to normal everytime I upgrade

I'm not sure about ALL settings, but some settings at least have always been the norm here. Not sure why. It's an unfortunate problem for a program with a massive number of potential settings, many tucked away pretty well, making it very difficult to remember what to set. There is the option of back...

Influence over playback speed quality?

I use VLC for a random assortment of video and audio files (podcasts, etc--mostly people talking), so I can't really narrow this to any particular kinds of encoding or whatever else beyond saying that they're mainly mp4's and mp3's, but I'm wondering if any of the many audio settings in VLC pertain ...

Re: Open Recent Media

Also greyed out in Win10 (x64) running VLC x86.

Based on a memory of this thread, I un-greyed it by running VLC and opening a video via the File menu (rather than opening the video from Explorer). Now it seems to work normally.

Re: Remember Position

Thanks for pointing that out, as it wasn't mentioned in the detailed release notes for 2.2.1. It works now when opening files via Explorer. Also, the "recent media" menu is also populated now when opening files in this way.

Re: Remember Position

Working here on Win10 after following the above steps, which also populates my Open Recent Media menu (always blank before). Unfortunately, as alluded to above, unless this works for files that are *initially* opened the way that everyone opens them--by clicking them in Explorer--it's not of much us...

Re: Remember Position

I'm beginning to wonder if it's Mac-only (and Qt, whatever that is--Quicktime?), since the News file just mentions: -Support to continue media playback where it was left off for Qt and OS X And the screenshot here is from a Mac: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/releases/2.2.0.html Do you ever actually s...

2.2.0 RC2: 200% max audio is now 105%

The comments discussions here sort of dance around it, though I'm not really following it fully and 105% is never mentioned. If it is supposed to max out at 100% now, it sure doesn't sound like the old 200% to me, but I could be wrong. https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/13056 https://trac.videolan...

2.2.0 RC2: 200% max audio is now 105%

This one has me stumped. For as long as I've been using VLC, audio volume level went to 200%. In any 2.2.0 release I've tried (from RC2 to the latest RC2 nightly), however, the top level is 105%. This is even with a clean installation. Is this by design? It's not a matter of 105% now being as loud a...

Re: Remember Position

I just tried 2.2 RC2 and then the latest 2.2 RC2 nightly (on Windows, not Mac), and I can't seem to make this feature work. Tested with AVI and MP4.

Is it enabled by default? If not, where is it?

Thanks

Re: "Play with VLC media player" with 2.1.0 behaving differe

I was reminded of this today when updating my VLC version.

Is anyone aware of a workaround (probably a very directed Registry incursion)? I really would like to get that menu to appear for some common video extensions that don't happen to be associated with VLC.

"Play with VLC media player" with 2.1.0 behaving differently

This is how I remember the feature working before 2.1.0 if you chose the context menu option during install: Right-click a media file and see "Play with VLC media player" near or at the top of the menu. This was even if another media player was the default player for that file type. As of ...

It would be optional, like 8000 other things are in VLC. And also useful for some people, since you can tell where you are in a video when it's minimized....

How about any means of adding it? This is not a far-out, obscure feature; it's expected at this point, and not just in video players.

Enabling the taskbar progress indicator?

I've been combing through VLC 2.01's endless advanced settings but am somehow missing the relatively basic feature of taskbar icon progress as a video plays in Win7. All sorts of programs do this now, from browsers to other media players. Where is it hidden?

Nice find, considering how many plugins there are. I'll just maintain a backup of the 1.1.8 DLL in case this continues to be a problem in the future.

Re: 0.9.2: Full-screen video controls pop up every 3 seconds

Although you have to admit that's more likely than your not moving your mouse "enough," which I think is somewhere between impossible and really impossible. You mentioned resetting preferences, but maybe you should uninstall it and entirely delete its profile directory. Perhaps something w...
