I am bummed that no one ever replied to the OP here. Also bummed that no one knows/is interested in responding about how to solve this issue.

I may have not been accurate with this question....my issue is that every time I open a new file in VLC, I get a new icon in my dock. I am having this same issue. It is not a terrible problem, but it is really annoying. I do not want to have to keep closing out icons in the dock that continually propagate with each time I open a file. Please advise.
