USB DVD drive are inexpensive

All I know is that the ability of various transcoders is all over the dial.

I have been importing video for a while and some program have compatibility issues and recognition issues etc

TV shows are tricky

most old tv shows are 4:3 but some are 16:9

720x480 is most common for dvd video but widescreen is 852x480

I know that MP4 is my favorite container but I was worried about audio track selection and more

HDMI 2.1 has been a standard for a long time but adoption has been slow

What GPU drivers are you guys running?

I have a Nvdia GT 710 on Windows 10 21.H1 running the latest Nvidia drivers and VLC 3.0.15 runs fine for me.

Only issue I noticed was no auto update from 3.0.14 to 3.0.15.

The GT 710 has been popular for media playback

latest version, vc1 is the codec in use

it seems that converting video is not working, wonder if the setup is mangled

I was looking at the standard and so far no open source reference code seems to be available for everyone to integrate into FFMPEG etc

postimages seems to be the most reliable

MP3 is an audio format, subtitles will be in the MP4 file

Make sure there is some video in the MP4 file

I made several presets for conversion for various needs and one i use the most just converts containers and retains video and audio as is

VLC can handle that case real fast and efficiently

VLC can convert video but its still crude compared to some other tools

would be nice to have more options for transcoding

VLC does have issues with mounted images on my box too

I was also inquiring about an alternative to iTunes for streaming to the Apple TV box such as VLC

I was not able to get VLC to login to windows 10 for shares etc

I found re-encoding the audio with a custom audio profile usually gets AAC working with Apple

I have VLC on my Windows box to play or convert as needed.

So I installed VLC on my Apple TV 4K box but I cannot seen to connect to a windows shared folder.

So Airplay or connect to Windows 10?
