Re: Android Auto and Cover Art

The blurred background is a feature of Android Auto. There is nothing VLC or any other media player application can do to disable that behavior.

Re: Android Auto Queue

Google limits what Android Auto can show on screen while the car is moving. Currently, we show a list of 15 songs, with the playing song in the middle. If we tried to show more than 15 songs, a "Search By Name" option would appear, taking up extra space on the screen. Do you have a specifi...

Re: Android Auto: Can location of track info be customized?

I have some work in progress to address your request. Could you take a look and provide feedback here? https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc-android/-/merge_requests/1879 With regard to your shuffle question, the way VLC3 handles shuffling is by loading the tracks in order into the queue and then j...

Is this on the auto manufacturer's home screen or the Android Auto (phone projection) interface? Could you share a picture/screenshot of the issue?

YouTube Music is selected as your default playback application.

Navigate to Settings -> Apps and Notifications -> Assistant -> Music and Select "No default provider"

Re: Android Auto: Can location of track info be customized?

Yes, VLC is the only media player which adds this information. I use the queue position to keep my eyes on the road, rather than trying to figure out the difference between the current track and the requested track based solely on names and my memory. If I see I'm at track 10 and someone in the back...

Re: Android Auto?

Any recent version of VLC should automatically appear in Android Auto. It does require that you restart your phone, or stop/start the Android Auto app, after installing. That's out of our control, as Android Auto only scans for available media applications once at launch (not when connected). I thin...

Re: Play songs in non-shuffle order with Android Auto

If you disable shuffle for the currently playing track while still in Android Auto, the Shuffle All button in the library menu will switch to Play All. (The home tab button is always Shuffle All). Give it a try by going back and forth between the currently playing song and menu while enabling/disabl...

Re: Play a Directory on Android Auto

As Aza mentioned, the objective of the Android Auto interface is to streamline functions to minimize the number of operations for motorists. There are other media players which do offer file-based navigation, but I think it's a poor substitute for a properly organized media library. There are two se...

Re: Can I add Google drive folder into Android tv VLC player?

Cloud support is currently only available in VLC for iOS and is not incorporated into VLC for Android (yet). Playing directly from cloud providers and synchronizing media locally (for offline access) are frequently requested features; support is under active investigation. See: https://code.videolan...

Re: No DLNA/UPNP discovery on FireTV?

I have seen similar behavior under Chrome OS. My Pixel 3 running Android 11 (VLC 3.5.3) will discover servers immediately, but another device running on the exact same WiFi network has troubles displaying the same UPnP servers. Interestingly, the Chromebook first shows "No connection to local n...

Re: VLC interact with Honda HRV infotainment system

Good find! AVRCP 1.3 should handle both the currently playing metadata and the queue of upcoming tracks. Version 1.4 is required to select the media player and browse the menu. VLC does not have folders tagged for bluetooth browsing, so even if you had 1.4, I wouldn't expect it to work. Please check...

Re: VLC interact with Honda HRV infotainment system

Okay, so no metadata with 1.3, 1.4 you get the currently playing song info, but no queue. What about 1.5 or 1.6? I tested it with my Toyota and I believe that simply turning the bluetooth subsystem on and off via the notification bar is sufficient on the phone side (reboot not required). However, I ...

Re: VLC interact with Honda HRV infotainment system

@rstone - I cannot locate developer settings menu
Instructions are available here: https://developer.android.com/studio/debug/dev-options

Also, the AVRCP option is safe to adjust (reboot your phone afterwards); however, that's not true of all the options, so don't randomly change settings.

Re: VLC interact with Honda HRV infotainment system

It's good to hear that VLC is (mostly) working for you. The demise of Google Play Music is what spurred my interest in improving VLC because there simply wasn't anything else out there which did what I wanted for my own music library. Based on what I can see externally, the Google Music team was str...

Re: No FF or Rewind in 2021 Toyota

I have not tested Toyota's long-press behavior via the steering wheel. Indeed, it may not work at all (it is inconsistent across automakers). In 3.5.0 the seek buttons were removed by default from the on-screen UI. You can add the buttons back (in addition to playback speed) under More->Settings->Au...

Re: Audio not appearing on top of screen

Yes, there is a synchronization issue when playback position is changed from media session controls while playback is paused. The 10 second skip buttons should be disabled when you pause playback though. Are you seeing white icons even when paused or do they become shaded? If you tap the icon do you...

Re: VLC for Android 3.5.0 problem with Samsung Note 3 & AndroidOS 4.4.2

Try adjusting Settings->Hardware Acceleration to see if it has any influence.

Either way could you please share some logs? Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).
