Improper font rendering bug for subtitles in VLC 0.9.6

Hello: On the VLC 0.8.6i version, I had a font I liked for subtitles. That version of VLC used the freetype2 rendering module. 0.9.6 uses by default the quartz rendering module. I wanted to have my fonts, not some spindly quartz selection, so I switched it back to freetype. Problem is, when I hit pl...

bug in .86e with subtitle colours not present in .86d

I noticed in version .86e of VLC, that if you play a movie at say, large resolution, and then play a smaller movie, the yellow subtitles on the smaller movie are slightly mottled with white mixed in with the yellow. With version .86d this ...

Here is my recommendation on getting nice subtitles in VLC

VLC due to it's non-native nature, displays subtitles of .srt form and the like by printing the subs at the 'native' resolution of the video clip. This means if you have a low resolution video clip like 620x350 or whatever, and then enlarge it to 1200x800 the subtitles get 'scaled' using a blocky vi...

Is there a way to make the DVD disc spin at 1x speed?

The Apple DVD Player spins the DVDs at 1x speed to minimize vibration and power consumption on laptops.

VLC spins the DVD drive at maximum speed even though the disc is only playing at 1x speed.. so the notebook vibrates a lot more with VLC.

Is this something that is fixable at all?
