Can't achieve smooth playback of AV1 video files on Ubuntu 23.10 with Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti

I'm trying to playback AV1 files via VLC on Ubuntu 23.10 with an Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti, but haven't been able to achieve something even approximating smooth playback. The video will play for 1 second, and then freeze. I had a similar issue on Windows until VLC version 3.0.19 was released, and now witho...

Re: Weird color flicker while playing dshow device

I really appreciate you taking the time to try and help, and I hope I never come off as rude or condescending. The problem is not discord in the above video and screenshots you pulled and everything isn't being run through Discord as it stands. Maybe I should never have mentioned Discord and the onl...

Re: Weird color flicker while playing dshow device

See if this helps: https://github.com/Pigpog/vlc-discord-rpc Thanks for the suggestion, this is actually really cool and I will probably continue to use it in the future. That being said it didn't fix my issue, and that's because the problem doesn't suddenly appear only when I'm streaming to Discor...

Re: Weird color flicker while playing dshow device

After downloading the video and using the frame-by-frame option ('e' key) to move forward from 54 secs the font color changes briefly from blue to orange and back to blue again. https://i.postimg.cc/grL1sV0T/flicker-1.png (click to enlarge) https://i.postimg.cc/NLjkGp1y/flicker-2.png There's no oth...

Re: Weird color flicker while playing dshow device

I played the video in the same version, but don't see any flickering. In preferences, Input / Codecs menu disable "Hardware-accelerated decoding" at the top. Save, exit and restart vlc. Sorry? I'm a bit confused, you don't need to play the video in VLC to see the flicker it's baked into t...

Re: Allow Dshow input to have video and audio from the same device (Sound stutters)

I actually fixed this issue the other day, you need to manually set the samplerate and bitspersample, see my post here: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=154837 To further clarify you need to check the "show more options" box in the bottom left and set the options there: ...

Re: Setting default audio output device via VLC Command Line doesn't take.

After hours of troubleshooting and then finally just posting on the forums I found the issue, a space: --waveout-audio-device="Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (High De (`$1, `$ffff)" vs --waveout-audio-device="Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (High De (`$1,`$ffff)" Note that the backticks are escap...

[Solved] Setting default audio output device via VLC Command Line doesn't take.

I've built a PowerShell script that opens a dshow device input via VLC Command Line so that I don't have to manually change a bunch of settings like I did with VLC GUI every time: vlc ` dshow:// ` :dshow-vdev="Game Capture HD60 Pro (Video) (`#01)" ` :dshow-adev="Game Capture HD60 Pro ...

Re: Stuttering and pitch-shifted audio on dshow capture card input

I was seemingly able to fix this by manually setting the samplerate and bitspersamle via the advanced options button and or via VLC Command Line:

Code: Select all

:dshow-audio-samplerate=48000 :dshow-audio-bitspersample=16

Re: Stuttering and pitch-shifted audio on dshow capture card input

Some info I should have included in the original post: VLC version - 3.0.8 Full log file - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vqCLwf15EaSgBsGC6HSUxHU-7Xu1Rzdy/view?usp=sharing I assume the problem has something to do with these log lines: main warning: playback too late (92401): up-sampling main debug...

[SOLVED] Stuttering and pitch-shifted audio on dshow capture card input

Hey there, I'm attempting to open a capture card in VLC player so that I can stream the VLC application window to Discord, as a way to add pseudo capture card support to Discord Go Live. The video comes through clean and looks great, but for whatever reason the audio is stuttering and pitch shifted ...
