replacing a VLM conf file dynamically

If I'm starting a VLC instance using the telnet or RC interface and start it with a VLM.conf file, is there a way to later load another VLM2.conf file in the same instance?

How to start/stop recording in rc/telnet interface

Is this possible? If I start vlc with one of these interfaces, then add a file to the playlist and start it playing, is there any way to start recording it and then stop recording it from within this interface? If I do a "longhelp" from the telnet/rc interface, I don't see any commands tha...

mosaic in rc/telnet without VLM

I've looked through the forums and wiki but have been unable to come to a definitive answer. Can a mosaic be setup/controlled in the rc/telnet interface without using a VLM configuration file?

Can't get VLC api example from wiki to work

Has anyone actually tried this example : http://wiki.videolan.org/LibVLC_Tutorial_086c ? I have a project set up, untarred the VLC source code, set the lib and include paths (all on Windows XP), but when I compile I get numerous errors. All the errors come from the tree of includes starting from &qu...

Sorry, but these seem to be ignored when the time filter is specified in the transcode - I tried this: vlc.exe myfile.mpg --sout="#transcode{sfilter=time,soverlay=time,vcodec="DIV3",vb=256}:std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=10.1.8.42:8080}' --time-opacity=200 --time-position=4 --time-forma...

Has the capability been added in 0.8.6 to add options to subfilters when specified in the transcode arguments?

For example, if I specified "sfilter=time", is there anyways to then specify the time format in 0.8.6?

OK, I found this on the forums which seems to work: C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC>vlc -vvv "C:\Video\swEp01.mpg" --sout="#transcode{sfilter=time,soverlay=time,vcodec="mp2v",vb=2000}:std{access=rtp,mux=ts,url=192.168.2.22:1234}' But a couple more questions: 1. How would I spe...

Stream with time overlay

Is it possible (specifically with a command line) to stream a file with the sub-filter time in effect and have this time format appear on the client side receiveing the stream? I tried this with the logo subfilter, but it only seemed to work if I loaded the streamer and the client instances on the s...

Problems with cygwin compilation - vlc.exe problem

Installed cygwin and the 0.8.5 vlc and contribs snapshots. Used this config file, as given in the developers help for cygwin, gc++: ./bootstrap && \ PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/win32/lib/pkgconfig \ CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/win32/include -I/usr/win32/include/ebml" \ LDFLAGS=-L/usr/win32/lib \ CC=...

Windows Functions work differently with skins2 interface

I posted a similar ? on the general discussion thread, but this one is more specific. Background: I want to be able to control the VLC window (size, position, etc.) programatically from another Windows application. I would like to run the VLC with the skins2 interface, but it seems to work different...

Centering VLC on the screen

Struggling with a way to do this. I want to use the Skins2 interface with VLC. I know I can (in the theme.xml file) set an original x and y position of the player on startup. But to center on any screen resolution, I need someway to pass parameters to the player after it has started. Can this be done?

I've tried both command line and changing the vlcrc file to try to position my video using --video-x and --video-y but no effect is seen:

Code: Select all

Disable right click default popup menu in skin?

Is there anyway to disable the default right click popup menu? I'm wanting a very limited player which would not provide these extra functions in the large popup by default to the users.

Streaming and then recording with Time overlays

I attempted to stream a file and put sub-filter time overlays on it, to no avail. Is this possible - I want the time overlays to be in the stream so that if I open another instance of VLC I can see them, plus record them to the hard drive in a saved file. I'm specifically looking to do this via the ...
