I am reading this. Almost a year since that thread has been created. SHould I understand that the problem has never been resolved yet now in February 2021 ? I am on Catalina. I do not expect Apple to solve this - as they can't even solve a broken Quick Time... and don't care about third party apps....

Just updated to 3.0.11 and got new issue... The video cannot be played anymore when I paused and resumed, then when I tried to quit the VLC, the app became not responsive.

So glad to know both issues are fixed!

I've been using this to play a long video, and so far - after 25 minutes - it hasn't frozen. (Based on my experience with the old VLC v3.0.10, that would likely have frozen at least once by now.) Thanks for the multiple reports. This problem is currently tracked on ticket 24676 and ticket 24668. We are looking into this severe regression and hope to follow-up with an update shortly.

Hope VLC or Apple fix this little issue quick, In the mean time downgrading to VLC 3.0.8 fixes the issue of losing audio.

Obviously this is an issue with VLC instead of Apple, otherwise the other version of VLC will stop working too.

Catalina 10.15.3 here, I have the same problem.

It loses audio after I resume the video, and if I try to jump to other part of the video, the VLC freezes until I force quit.
