Doesn't 1080p means height of 1080 pixels? With that case video is larger than my size (height) and should be cropped/reduced in size instead of showing black bars

I also would like to say that horizontally, my screen is filled up but black borders only show up vertically (top and bottom of video)

To fill up your screen you need a 1680x1050 video :) Any other size will obviously have black borders. Your screen resolution has a 1.6 aspect ratio while most movies have a 1.78 or 2.35 aspect ratio. So correct me if I am wrong, a 1080p video indicates it has an image resolution of 1920×1080 pixel...
