Yes, that thread deals with the exact same problem I ran into. Unfortunately, there seems to be no solution for it. I wonder whether this is a vlc bug.

I've a m4v file in which the video codec is avc and the audio codec is mpeg audio. The file plays perfectly fine in vlc. However, in windows media player the file produces no audio (picture is fine). I tried to use vlc to convert the audio codec to mpeg 4 audio (aac), without changing the video code...
To add media files to VLC's library on a home network, follow these general steps. VLC offers various ways to do this, and the specific steps can vary slightly depending on your operating system and VLC version: Ensure All Devices Are on the Same Network: Make sure that the computer running VLC and...
I am almost certain now that this is a vlc issue, not an issue with SMB, Windows, or disk drives. I've tried with multiple drives from different brands (Seagate, WD, etc.) onto which I've copied FLAC files. Once connected to my home network via my PC and router, they show up in vlc as expected, and ...
I'm using vlc on an Android box attached to my home network. When I connected an external hard drive containing my music files to the network, vlc recognized the drive immediately (through the local network tab) and I can play the files directly without any problem. However, when I tried to add the ...
Thanks for the reply. After some tinkering with the settings, I managed to resolve the issue, but in a rather curious way I still don't quite understand. Now, whenever I plug in my SD card, two folders in VLC show up: one is labeled USB, the other OTG. I can see the content of my SD card as well as ...
*I have about 1tb worth of music files on a SD card, which until recently I played them without any problems on my Galaxy Note 9 using vlc. I recently bought the new Galaxy s23 ultra phone. Since this phone doesn't have a SD card slot, I connected the card to the phone as a USB OTG (on-the-go) devic...
I'm still experiencing occasional stuttering issues with v3.5.4 when playing flac files, . . . Does it happen if you connect your phone to desktop speakers by way of a cable? And does it happen if you connect your phone to headphones by way of a cable? If it does still happen in both cabled situati...
I'm still experiencing occasional stuttering issues with v3.5.4 when playing flac files, although the situation has much improved compared to v3.5.3. I'm not sure what exactly is the cause of this problem, since it does not arise at all when I use the Samsung Music app. Vlc really needs to get to th...
This also happens to me occasionally. When it does, the problem is almost always at the server's end, not with chromecast, TV, or VLC. Depending on the setup, network traffic sometimes gets jammed up. From my experience, rebooting the server will do the trick.
Is there a timeline for the official release of v 3.5.4? I don't want to go through the hassle of installing the beta if the release of the full version is imminent. Thanks.
I was playing music files stored on an USB drive connected to Chromecast with Google TV, and experienced constant VLC crashes. VLC would shut down Chromecast completely about every 10 mins or so. Upon restarting Chromecast and VLC, the same would happen again. This would NOT happen when I was using ...
Thanks for the reply. I managed to resolve the issue by restarting everything (rebooting the computer, resetting the router, closing down and reopening vlc). Evidently, something got jammed in the system. However, I have a related question. When using vlc, I often encounter the following problem. Wh...
I'm running VLC on the Chromecast with Google TV, which is connected to my home network via ethernet cable. My computer is running Windows 10. When I added a folder (from an external hard drive connected to the computer) with video files to the computer's video library, the folder shows up on VLC as...
I've over 50,000 songs in my collection. Indexing them would be a major task. It would be nice if vlc could add the functionality that treats items available over a home network on par with those on an attached drive.
Precisely, but I think I've figured out the reason why. If I attach an external USB drive, a dialogue box would pop up and indicate that a new device is detected, and ask whether I would like to include it's contents in the media library (or something to that effect). After clicking yes, I would the...
I discovered that, if I played the audio files from an attached drive (instead of streamed them over the home network), I wouldn't have either of the 2 problems I described. I'd love to know why.
I'm encountering 2 problems during playback of music over home network: 1. When playing a song in an album/folder, I've no access to control buttons (pause, forward, backward, etc.). I have to backtrack all the way to the home page, and click on the "now playing" icon to see those buttons....
I have several asx files on my computer that can be played without problems in Windows Media Player. VLC also used to be able to play them, but not anymore. It now just hangs with nothing happens. I am currently using VLC version 3.0.8. A search on the internet indicates some others have also run in...
