I have had this same issue on a few occasions and assumed there was a limitation somewhere on vlc for recording. But researching it I only found this issue and https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=147996 where it's documented and in both cases, there was no resolution or max length determined.??

It's working now. I uninstalled it again, this time I also deleted cache and preferences, then reinstalled and Capture works fine now.

When I try to Capture a video of my (W10)desktop, there is no video saved. While it is apparently recording, the red light appears on vlc and the counter is counting.
