Playing MP3 files and Random setting.

I can't give an exact number, but I have a lot of MP3 files in the playlist. I start VLC playing and hit the random button. Random doesn't seem too random. Say I have 50 songs. This will do for the example. Though not the real names, this is an example of what is played: Song 1 Song 3 Song 1 Song 3 ...

VLC on a RasPi as am NP3 player. Remote access help

As much as VLC has a built in remote control, I am wanting to make one which gives me more information / options and things I don't think the existing one has/does. The machine is headless and just plays MP3 files. It does have VNC connectivity, but that defeats the purpose of having it headless is ...

Re: Raspberrypi 5.4.51 certain jpeg image would not be played the whole duration

JPG is an image - as you said.

What do you mean then by saying:

> would not be played the whole duration.

It is an image not a sound.

"Random" - not really.

I have VLC on a RasPi. I use it to play MP3 files for me. I have a list of (oh, the list doesn't tell you how many are in the list.) Quite a few. More than 100. RANDOM playback leaves a lot to be desired. About every 3 songs it is a repeat of a song already heard. And this is early on when playback ...

Playing a git queue and getting stutter at start of playing,

I have a few MP3 files.

I have a play list of them and use VLC to play the files.

Ok, it isn't a super big machine (RPI3) but I am not pushing it with things. It is basically playing MP3 files.

But when each song starts, it stutters.

Why?

Re: Really wanting to get help on how to use the remote control options.

I think I also may need help with how to start VLC so it has the port open. While trying things, this is what I get: (trying to start VLC with HTTP port open) me@me-desktop:~$ vlc -I http VLC media player 3.0.8 Vetinari (revision 3.0.8-0-gf350b6b5a7) [000056070d3b3a10] main interface error: no suita...

Re: Really wanting to get help on how to use the remote control options.

Basically VLC exposes an HTTP server on the endpoint defined by --http-host and --http-port. You can send HTTP requests to execute things or get info from VLC. The document above documents the different requests that you can send. Sorry. Still not getting it fully. I know this won't help, but just ...

Re: Really wanting to get help on how to use the remote control options.

Hi, you could have ping on the post, I sometime miss answers because of the number of open post here. :) There is documentation about the API in share/lua/http/requests/README.txt, here: https://github.com/videolan/vlc/blob/master/share/lua/http/requests/README.txt If you know where to find them in...

Really wanting to get help on how to use the remote control options.

I asked here: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=151176&p=496713#p496713 But the reply was short of really helping me understand what to do. I have VLC on a remote machine which I want to use to play as a "juke box" kind of thing. (Play music) I read there ar...

Re: Help with the remote control part of VLC

Thanks for the reply. Although you say the http interface exposes both a web and API interface. . . . . . I am unable to understand how to use them. I have a working WEB interface working. I see the basic controls on a web page and can control the playing of songs. But it is clunky in its looks. Tha...

Help with the remote control part of VLC

I have tried the WEB interface and it leaves a bit to be desired. The APP (or phones) works nicely. But I am wanting to build a remote interface on another machine. Just the basic commands like: play, stop, pause, next, previous. Display the name of the song playing. Anyway, I am confused with all t...

Re: [Debian] Crash after update

I shall agree with Gabrel.

I had a very similar problem and after 3 weeks I tried
vlc --reset-config
and all was good.
