I'm seeing this just lately on VLC 3.0.4 on Linux Mint 19 (64-bit). Unchecking "Resize interface to video size" did not help. In fact, I can press "F" to go full screen, then immediately after that, press spacebar, and the video will not unpause. I have to click in the video some...
