Are you behind NAT?
start -> run -> cmd
ipconfig /all

(IP address starts with 192.168. or 10.)
I dont know what NAT is, but my modem IP is 192.168.0.1 and my PC is 192.168.0.2.

My computer IP on the internet (given by the service provider/phone company) I dont know.

tried 0.8.6, still the same problem.

Can anyone direct me to some good forum where maybe someone can help me, since this problem is apparently not relative ONLY to videolan (my WMP also cant run streaming videos)

because the internet is fast and I did the tests dude...

average 54 kbytes/s in the test. (its an ADSL 600 kbits/s connection)

its not a internet speed problem.

also, it would be unrelated to the WMP problem, since WMP cant even begin to open the video.

As for DirectX, I run the diagnostics and apparently there is no problem (why would problems only appear on streaming video?)
