I used 7zip to extract what I think is every appx file, leaving the original appx file in place, and verified that the path you suggested was observed, and I got this. It seemed to do something different, then displayed this

Without bothering you further, where can I find a program or tutorial so that I can extract the appx file?

Do you have a link to that FTP page. And another gripe. The player plays in only one landscape mode, so when my tablet is in a different configuration due to power outlet issues, it will play the video in the default position and therefore flip the video upside down. I'd be perfectly fine with a 1.0...

Is there any way to use the out-dated app?

I was using the out-dated app. It worked perfectly. Then I inadvertently updated through the windows store via the w8.1os, and now 3.1.1.0 works terrible.
