This is a limitation of the Fire TV Stick 4K, that has a bug. We do not have access to one, so we cannot fix that yet.

From looking at another thread I tested disabling hardware acceleration and when doing that the videos display as they should with letter boxing, but without hardware acceleration the H.265/HEVC videos are too much for the Fire Stick 4K to handle and it barely plays / just studders. So appears issue...

I am running VLC for Android v3.0.13 on a Fire TV Stick 4K on a LG B8 TV which is standard 4K. I had the exact same issue originally when I first tried to authenticate to a SMB share on my synology NAS, tried many syntax combinations and none seemed to work. Tried from VLC on my phone running Android v9 and didn't seem to work either. Not sure if anything actually changed but after many tries...
