Converting video file truncates destination file where audio ends in source

When converting a video file from mov to mp4, VLC does not convert the entire thing. The source video has a total length of 1 minute and 59 secs with the audio part of the video ending at 1 minute and 20 secs. The destination file length ends at 1 minute and 20 secs.
