If it does, do a bug report (assuming you can share the http m3u stream address). Here you go: http://www.outburst-audio.com/maik/vlc.m3u It's not a proper M3U file, I know! But it shouldn't crash VLC! Steps to reproduce the crash: -> download the vlc.m3u file onto your computer -> open VLC (empty)...

This worked for me, thank you. Does it work 100%? Can you please test this (with disabled OSD in the preferences): -> play a video -> go to fullscreen -> press M (to mute) -> press M again => here i get this: http://www.outburst-audio.com/misc/vlc-osd.jpg (at the right side a volumebar appears) :(

Disable OSD in the preferences.
this doesn't help. you still get this stuff displayed in fullscreen mode.

Just got this crash last night with VLC 0.8.6f while watching this http://dewy.fem.tu-ilmenau.de/CCC/24C3/matroska/24c3-2158-en-the_arctic_cold_war.mkv movie (from my harddisk) . You shouldn't have to touch this option. --minimize-threads is already enabled by default for the cases where it doesn't hurt (like streaming to a file). For most cases this option will hurt performance (especially video playing).

VLC only can play very few old QuickTime files. For newer ones you need to have QuickTime installed. VLC then can use this a bit like "external codec" ...

asio output (portaudio) doesn't work anymore since version 0.8.2. somebody (re)added portaudio to the last builds (0.8.6), but that alone doesn't make it working ...
