Spoke too soon.
Some MKVs now cast smoothly. Others still pixellating.
Back to the drawing board.

Automatic Hardware Decoding ON and Fast Seek turned off.
Both MP4 and MKV videos now casting smoothly.

Workaround until the D3D11 problem is fixed, set VLC to use DXVA2: Tools -> Preferences -> Video Output = Direct3D 9 Tools -> Preferences -> Input/Codecs Hardware accelerated decoding = DXVA 2.0 Then save, exit and restart VLC. -----------------------------------------------------------------------...

pixelation casting using VLC3

When I cast an MP4 video via VLC 3 to a TV using my Chromecast ULTRA I usually get pixelation of the video.
But if just run CHROME, use CTL-O to load the video file then just cast CHROME to the TV, no pixelation.

Why is VLC not casting as smoothly as CHROME does?
