libTiMidity inclusion

VLC is pretty complete but lacks in MIDI "manipulation", IMHO. libTiMidity could help: libTiMidity is a MIDI to WAVE converter library that uses Gravis Ultrasound-compatible patch files to generate digital audio data from General MIDI files. This library based on the TiMidity decoder from ...

[suggestion] OpenCL adoption

Seems that OpenCL 1.0 has been released with Mac OS X v10.6 "Snow Leopard" (August 28, 2009), so it could be interesting to adopt it. From the official website : OpenCL™ is the first open, royalty-free standard for cross-platform, parallel programming of modern processors found in personal...

Re: A solution for Windows 9x/ME users

From this 3ad : VLC 0.8.6 is the latest release with support for this operating system. Please note that these versions of Windows are not officially supported. No VideoLAN developer uses any of these systems, which makes them hard to support. VLC should mostly work with them, but some incompatibili...

Re: A solution for Windows 9x/ME users

Have you checked it?
Not the latest version (4.0 final 2): i used the 3.x series in the past... I hope to try the new version soon.

Meanwhile, you can ask directly to the author (Xeno86) to certify the VLC functionality.

A solution for Windows 9x/ME users

Since 0.8.6f VLC don't support these old versions of Windows anymore, unfortunally (they really needs VLC powerfulness). KernelEx should be the - open source/free of course - suggested solution for them, IMHO ! Check this forum too, many answers there, for example: and the last VLC media player 1.0....

Native 1394 support ?

I just earned about the interesting CMU 1394 Digital Camera Driver project that claims: We provide a free driver as well as a C++ software library for cameras that comply with the 1394 Digital Camera Specification as published by the 1394 Trade Association http://www.1394ta.org. It is a fast, easy w...

OGG chapters support ! (great for Vorbis CD images)

Well, we're (always) trying to optimize our "rip for sharing" (here in Italy it's now legal to share "degraded or low resolution" music for "scientific or educational use, and only when such use is not for profit") file images (1 audio file per disc). Here's the encodin...

DWT on GPU !

DWT on GPU Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) has been heavily studied and developed in several computer graphics applications. However, when dealing with enormous data volume in computer graphics, its performance may drastically reduce. To solve this problem, we developed a DWT shader that runs on e...

Re: Monkey Protocol

For those who are interested in, seems a light GPL (plain C) decoder has been written by Dave Chapman for Rockbox project: Details This patch implements a Monkey's Audio (.ape files) decoder for Rockbox. The decoder itself (libdemac) was written from scratch by me and is licensed under the GNU GPL. ...

It would be great to have a "switch resolution @ fullscreen" setting, as Dscaler (THE open source -GPL- TV&Video deinterlacer) has, that allows you to choose the refresh too.

VideoLAN on ReactOS

Hi there, we're going to build a 'basic' distro for ReactOS and VLC seems to fit our needs around a/v files. Anyway, since ROS don't have a DirectX-clone (at the moment), i wanna ask your support (i'm not a developer) to build a win32 SDL-default-output version. For those who don't know: The ReactOS...
