Don't have those options in my VLC ver 3.0.5, maybe because it is a so far unregistered trial version?

When I open VLC and hit the Media tab on the menu bar then hit the open file... option from the drop down box it opens a box, at the bottom of that box is a File Name drop down menu that when dropped down displays all the videos I have opened recently. My question is can that be cleared? If so how? ...
