What the title says. I'm using the latest stable version for Windows. I've been making subtitles for videos on my computer, so this is a problem.

Okay, so for reference, I used a video converter to upscale the video to 720p and then changed the encoder to the video's own H-264 before embedding, and that worked. Hopefully this is useful to someone.

What the title says. I think the pixelization might be due to the video's small resolution, but either way, I have no idea how to fix it. Please help.

VLC player appears to be having problems casting shadows. They're strangely bright, and oddly colored. Dark scenes never actually look dark. I've run the same video on Windows Media Player, and it worked fine. So did YouTube. So I know the problem isn't on my end. I'll just use Windows Media Player ...
