I have used VLC in the past without issue, so perhaps it is the beta that’s the problem.

I have an Apple TV 4th gen with tvOS 12 public beta. When I try to access subtitles via the top-overlay, nothing happens. Swiping down does nothing using the apple tv remote or my iphone as a remote.
