Re: unable to decode 1080p60 with hardware acceleration

Hi,

Is this bug fixable? Will it be fixed in the future?

Or it is an issue not related to VLC?
tried vlc-4.0.0-dev-2787-g2175a7d and DVB-T TV works now. Thanks for quick fix.

But hardware decoding for some 1080p30/p60 clips is still not working.

Re: How to set hotkey for "Always on Top"

Will this feature be added to VLC in the future? It is really useful sometimes.

Hardware deinterlacing via VA-API

Hi Recently I'm going to build a HTPC based on Intel CPUs (Ivy Bridge, Haswell and later). Hardware deinterlacing is an important feature for me because it frees the resources of the CPU to do more things. I know hardware deinterlacing in VLC works fine with NVIDIA GPUs via VDPAU, But what about wit...

Re: Performance problems on barebone from Intel

I found following two links. kernel 4.11+ and libva 1.8.3+ are required to support Gemini Lake. Your kernel and libva are too old. Maybe you should try another newer distribution or build required driver/library yourself. https://github.com/intel/intel-vaapi-driver/releases/tag/1.8.3 https://www.lin...

Re: unable to decode 1080p60 with hardware acceleration

Today I found that most H264 1080p30 cannot be decoded with hardware acceleration neither.

The error message is the same: avcodec error: existing hardware acceleration cannot be reused

Only few 1080p30 or 1080p60 clips can be hardware decoded.

Can someone fix this issue? Thanks.

Re: Performance problems on barebone from Intel

Enabling hardware decoding may be helpful.

Tools -> Preferences -> Input/Codecs -> Hardware-accelerated decoding -> Choose VAAPI

Make sure that your system has installed libva1 and use vainfo to check vaapi status.

The problem solved after changing video output from "VDPAU output" to "OpenGL video output".
The video playback recover from abnormal situation soon when discontinuity occurs.
