Is it possible to hide the menu bar while keeping the control bar?

Is there a way to change the background color from black to gray?

I'm using a large VLC window and interested in padding ultrawide videos in order to get 16:9 aspect ratio. (black bars above and below.)

I'm interested in padding, not cropping or distortion.

Is it possible to set all videos to 16:9 aspect ratio permanently via padding? (Adding black bars)

For videos with a larger aspect ratio than 4:3, I want the player to lower their height with black bars, instead of increasing their width.

It's the default behaviour for vlc-1.1.x-win32 versions with MKV videos (while the video is playing, not paused), at least for me.

Is there an option for the player to seek to the previous keyframe rather than the exact position when manually selecting a time spot to view on the time toolbar, like in 1.1.x versions (with MKV files)?

I've tried it already, didn't work.
I'm using this old version because it supports mkv cropping parameters, as opposed to the newer versions I've tried.

VLC player (2.0.6) menu interface language suddenly changed to English, even though it is set to my native language.
What happened?

When moving the mouse cursor to some point on the time toolbar, (without clicking it) the point's time is displayed above the cursor.
Is it possible for the user to change it, so the time will be displayed below the cursor?

Is there an option for the user to display the elapsed time on the bottom right corner (elapsed time/total time) instead of the left, like in 1.1.x versions?
